Restaurant Girl - On A Cleanse

I used to roll my eyes when I heard the word "cleanse."   Cleanse, what for?  Why deprive yourself of steak, lamb chops, seafood, salty, crunchy french fries, dark chocolate, and a good cocktail.  To be honest, I've always been a little jealous of people's willpower to resist restaurants, solid foods, coffee, and wine.  I surrender at the sight of a menu or glittery stemware or even a warm bread basket.  You'd think by now I'd have some self-control or even some cynicism about the glories of food.  Nope. I still get just as excited about pizza, peanut butter, caramel apples, and ice cream as I did when I was little.  Only these days, I get really excited about a great cassoulet or uni sushi or homemade soba crowned with pork belly or Grand Marnier souffle.

But I ate one too many burgers at the Burger Bash last weekend and way too many sweets at Sweet.  Not to mention eating my way through this fall's restaurant circuit -- A Voce TWC, Travertine, Abe & Arthurs, Robataya, Bia Garden, & Yerba Buena Perry.  I've eaten way too much and I need a few days off, so I revisited the notion of a cleanse.

My issue has always been the solid food deprivation.  I mean, I can make it to dinner on juice alone, but a liquid dinner?  Come on, I need something to chew on.  Apparently, I'm not be alone because Blueprint Cleanse just came out with a "juice with dinner" cleanse.  I've decided to try one.  Yes, it's a baby step cleanse, but it's three days and there's a very good chance I may not last.  A day without coffee is unthinkable.   Breakfast was a green juice made of romaine, celery, green apple, cucumber, kale, spinach, parsley and lemon.  (It wasn't that bad, but it's only 11 am of day one, so it's soon to make any predictions.)

Do check in for cleanse updates as I may declare defeat at any moment.  Feel free to email your guess of just how long I'll last...
