Double Down on Dessert During Sweet September, Benefiting Citymeals on Wheels

rotisserie-georgetteEating sweets is hardly a hardship, but this month, we’re giving you carte blanche to overdo it on dessert.  That’s because, from September 1st – 30th, participating New York restaurants and bakeries will donate $1 to Citymeals on Wheels — which helps deliver food to the homebound elderly — every time you buy one of their designated Sweet September desserts.  So get ready for a serious sugar rush, because you can make a delicious difference by stocking up on sweets, from spots like Rotisserie Georgette, Maialino, Pasar Malam and more!

21 Club: Since meals at the tony 21 Club just aren’t complete without their classic Profiteroles, it only stood to reason that the restaurant would add them to their Sweet September promotion.  So go ahead and order a plate of golden, airy cream puffs, filled with vanilla ice cream and drizzled in chocolate.

Chomp Chomp: Simpson Wong’s newest restaurant is an ode to Singaporean street food, so follow up Summer Rolls, Seafood Laksa and wok-fried Rice Noodles with chili flake-sprinkled Banana Fritters or Bo Bo Cha Cha; sweet potatoes, tapioca pearls and taro root, cooked in coconut milk.

Rôtisserie Georgette: Since Rotisserie G’s sublime, Warm Apple Tatin is meant to be shared, they’re contributing $2 from each order of the caramel-shellacked, classic French dessert, delivered with it’s own silver pail of tart, velvety crème fraiche.

IMG_0329-1024x700Nicoletta: All of the Fior di Latte Softserve Sundaes at Michael White’s East Village pizzeria, Nicoletta, are part of the promotion, so take your pick of S’mores, with toasted marshmallow, graham cracker and chocolate chunks, Crackerjack, featuring peanut crumble, rosemary popcorn and caramel sauce, and Peach Cobbler, paired with peach preserves and oatmeal streusel.

Maialino/Marta: Both of the Danny Meyer-owned, Nick Anderer-run restaurants will donate $1 from three scoops of house-made Gelati and Sorbetti, in flavors like Fior di Latte, Cannoli and Amarena Cherry Chip, and Lime Prosecco, Strawberry Lemonade and Apricot Vanilla.

11951179_10153675798365676_3740212023683913686_nSugar Couture: Recently opened in Williamsburg by celebrated cake decorator, Penny Stankiewicz, Sugar Couture is whipping up a special, one-of-a-kind treat for Citymeals; batches of shimmering Spiral Sprinkle Sugar Cookies.

Pasar Malam: From the owners of the Michelin-starred Laut, this Malaysian hawker bar in Brooklyn is donating $1 from each of their Roti-based desserts, including the “Roti Tisu,” a crispy, sugar-dusted pancake tower, with a sparkler on the end, as well as their Coconut Pudding and Snow Fungus Soup; lacy, mild mushrooms mixed with red dates and gingko nuts, in a cold, pandan and rock sugar-sweetened broth.
