Share Benefit’s 11th Annual A Second Helping Of Life
Female chefs have long played second fiddle in the food industry. Let’s be honest: They still rarely get the kind of attention or credit that celebs like Mario Batali and Tom Colicchio do. Instead, they keep their nose to the grind, remaining mostly behind kitchen doors, churning out pretty spectacular food. April Bloomfield’s one of the few that have achieved the status of celebrity over her masterful way with the pig and gastropub of it all. Or how about Amanda Cohen who somehow satisfies the most insatiable carnivore with her vegetarian creations at Dirt Candy. Or what about Rebecca Charles, who built Pearl Oyster Bar, a seafood institution that’s still going strong seventeen years later. New York’s finest females are banding together to strut their skills at the 11th Annual A Second Helping of Life Benefit on Monday, September 22nd from 7-9:30 at Chelsea Piers.
This awesome culinary tasting is not only a celebration of these women, but more importantly, Share, an organization that supports woman in their fight against breast and ovarian cancer. If you want to sample the cooking of some of the most talented women in the food business, buy your ticket for this food event here. And if you need more incentive, Anita Lo, Elizabeth Karmel, and Alex Guarnaschelli. And that’s just for starters. Even Christina Tosi of Momofuku Milk Bar fame will be whipping up criminally good sweets for the occasion.
