Where to Eat (RED) Drink (RED) and Save Lives This June

EAT-RED-General-1024x512-1-1024x512Want to eat & drink for a good cause?  Why not?  Mario Batali and (RED) — the AIDS organization founded by Bono and Bobby Shriver in 2006 — have partnered once again for EAT (RED) DRINK (RED) SAVE LIVES; a month-long campaign to raise funds for and awareness of the fight against AIDS.  And not only is Batali offering Benoit_Lobster Salad (2)_Photo Credit Benoitspecial (RED) Suppers at every one of his New York restaurants (in addition to donating a portion of proceeds, every dollar raised will be matched by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation), he’s recruited a number of other, local establishments to participate as well.  So here’s where to eat and drink for an incredibly good cause, throughout the remainder of June.

Benoit (Throughout June): Alain Ducasse’s Midtown Parisian bistro will be offering a $35 prix fixe at the bar through the end of the month, featuring Maine Lobster Salad and a Raspberry Pavlova, with your choice of white or (RED) wine.

Smorgasburg (Weekends Throughout June): Numerous vendors at Brooklyn’s sprawling al fresco weekend food market will be offering #86Aids Cknsu7TXEAEaYQm.jpg-smallspecials, including Red Iced Cherry Mate from The Choripan, and Banana-Nutella B(RED) courtesy of BK Baking Barons.

The Little Owl (6/13-20): Joey Campanaro’s West Village staple will donate proceeds from every $60 bottle of Rosso wine sold, made exclusively for the restaurant, and hailing from Di Giovanna, Sicily.

Lupa (6/14): For $99 per person including wine pairings, the four-course (RED) Supper at Lupa includes Tuna Carpaccio with Spiced Almonds, Sweet Pea Ravioli with Veal Neck Ragu, Pan Roasted Lamb Loin with Pickled Ramps, and Ricotta and Mascarpone Dumplings with Strawberry Conserva.

red-velvet-cupcakes-61-600Lady Lexis Sweets (6/18): This Harlem Bakery is holding a dessert and mocktails soiree, featuring Red Velvet Cupcakes, Red Velvet Devil Dogs, Sugar Cookies and more, with proceeds from $20 tickets going to the cause.

Babbo (6/20): Help fight AIDS just by sipping on Strawberry Bellinis at Babbo this month, or attend Batali’s flagship on the 20th, for an Eat (RED) Drink (RED) tasting menu.

Exhibit C (6/20): Chef Daphne Cheng will serve a 5-course dinner with all (RED) dishes, hosted at her raw collaborative space in the Lower East Side.  Tickets will be priced $175/person, with 40% of proceeds going to The Global Black-Tap_Red-Velvet-Milkshake-580x872Fund.

Black Tap (6/23): Known for its signature crazy decadent shakes, chef and owner Joe Isidori has created a special (RED) Milkshake to help finance the fight against AIDS; totally worth standing on a reliably endless line for.

Delicatessen (6/22): Chef Michael Ferraro’s SoHo eatery will host a (RED) Food Photography Workshop in the restaurant’s beautiful private courtyard space, with 20 spots open to public. For a chance to attend, post your best food photo with the hashtag #86AIDS!

Casa Mono (6/28): For $150 per person, Casa Mono’s Spanish-style (RED) supper kicks off with Pan con Tomate and Jamon Iberico, proceeds to starters such as Upstate Burrata, Gamba Shrimp and Baby Artichokes, continues on with Pulpo a la Plancha, followed by Cod Cheek Pil Pil with Greenmarket Sambal and 05-cacciucco-1-51Fideos with Shellfish for the Table, and concludes with a choice of dessert, such as Olive Oil Gelato with Green and Red Strawberries and Tonka Beans.

Del Posto (6/28): Acclaimed chef Mark Ladner will serve a five-course dinner complete with wine pairings in Del Posto’s private event space, for $295 per person.  Planned courses include Truffled Beef Carne Cruda, Livorno Style Fish Stew, Caserecci all’Amatriciana, Poached Atlantic Halibut, and Rhubarb Crostata with Pistachio, Wine Jelly and Yogurt Spuma.

La Sirena (6/28): With the participation of the entire table, Batali and Bastianich’s newest restaurant is offering a 4-course (RED) SUPPER tasting 13322114_1709080309379762_7171261701201647335_nmenu, for $65 per person.  Expect Carne Cruda with Giardiniera, Olive Oil Poached Salmon with Preserved Lemon, Red Tonnarelli tossed with Cherry Tomatoes and Cuttlefish, and Strawberry Crostata crowned with Strawberry Gelato and Crispy Meringue.
